Julien finishes his craftsman!

This weekend Julien finally finished his last project for his craftsman pin. It was the last requirement he needed to finish in order to earn every single badge in the Webelos book. What an accomplishment! He worked really hard. For this badge alone he had to make seven things, using different materials, and multiple techniques. He made several duck tape wallets, a picture frame, a Captain America shield hot pad made out of clay, a pillow case, a cooking apron, a recipe card holder, and a coat hanger. Let me clarify that Jon and I did not do the projects for him, we showed him how to work the machines, supervised his work, and guided him when he need help, but HE did everything on his own, including shopping for the materials.

Below are a few pictures of him working so diligently.

The Grill Master!

Jon inherited a smoker (from... well if you want to know you should just ask him) a few weeks ago, and he decided to put it to the test for Memorial Day with some delicious jalapeno poppers, and Brazilian style steak. It was so good! We all enjoyed eating, chatting, relaxing on our front porch.

Mud Run

A couple of friends and I participated in Houston's Original Mud Run. I had wanted to do one for a while and it will surely not be the last. It was by far one of the funnest races I have ever done.
The mud run was a 6 mile course and had over 30 obstacles.

Me before the race, excited to start!

Alena and I showing off our girl super strength power!

Jon and the kids were such good sports. They followed me as I raced to cheer me on and take picture under the scorching sun and horrendous heat.

Me in front of my last obstetrical!

The finish line was a pit of thick mud we had to crawl in which is why I look so hideously muddy in the picture below! I truly had the best time during the race it was a very fun, relaxed environment. I am happy to say that I successfully made it trough all the obstacles except for one, the incredibly difficult monkey ropes (monkey bars made out of rope).

3rd grade check! 4th grade check!

Yap that is right, another school year has already come and gone here at the Ward household. And it's been a very successful one.
Logan finished 3rd grade. He had so much fun this year learning, going on field trips.... His class had several pets such as spiders, lizards, snakes, fish, and many more. During his graduation ceremony he received a citizen award, and a rocket math award for multiplication. He was thrilled!

Julien finished 4th grade. He had an amazing year. He made the honor roll every quarter. He really worked hard, and it payed off. He enjoyed going on many field trips, studying science, and learning more math and spelling (says he). He even got to take home his own terrarium, and fish tank with 3 mosquito fish inside. Julien too got nominated for 3 awards: the citizen award,  a rocket math award, and  an AR reading award. He had the 2nd highest AR points, and grade average for the entire school. This year Julien's eyes have been glued to books. He even inherited the nick name book worm.

To celebrate their special day and a year full of hard work and accomplishments, Jon and I took them to a hibachi grill. The boys loved it. It was a lot of fun!

Mother's Day!

I just love being a mom.  It is not a hard thing to say when you have the most wonderful children in the world. I am so blessed to have Julien, Logan, and Kia Ora (and Jon, although he is not my child I am still grateful for him) in my life. They are so sweet, kind, funny, smart, talented, and oh so darn cute. They make me proud to be their mom. I love them so so much. And as Logan would say I love them to infinity and beyond, or love everlasting love (he actually writes never lasting in his notes to Jon and I, but we know what he means.)

This day not only reminds me how lucky I am to be a mom, but it also reminds how lucky and blessed I am to have the most wonderful mother myself. She is the most selfless person I know, always putting others first, serving, and caring for anyone but herself. She has made so many sacrifices in her own life to help, serve, and tend for the needs of her family, and friends. I am grateful for all she has done for me and continuously does. She is always there for me, to encourage me, give me advice, and support me. I hope I can follow in her footsteps, and be more kind, loving, and charitable. I love her very much.

 My awesome family.

Kiki very tired after a long day at church.

Crawfish Boil!

Friday on of Dow's vendors invited us to a crawfish boil. They are quite common down here around this time of the year. In fact towards the end of April all through May, there are crawfish boils every weekend. It was a fun even with all you can eat crawfish, sodas, and hot dog, and chips for the kids (since the crawfish tend to be spicy.) They had also bouncy castles for kids to play on, and gadgets to take home.

Jon showing Julien how to eat a crawfish.

Logan trying his first crawfish!
The verdict was good, but spicy.

Kiki enjoying the food too.
