Logan's "Great Brain Animal Project"

All of this week, Logan has been on his "Great Brain Animal Project." Basically, he had to pick an animal of his choice and research, write, and illustrate his findings. Logan chose to do his project on Chameleons. So we picked out a book and surfed the internet to get more information and then the fun began....
Take a look!

Some of the media Logan used to illustrate his pictures were crayons, colored pencils, and markers, as well as paint, fabric, and foam boards.

Here is Logan's favorite page in his book.

Harry Potter??!?

Today, the boys went with me to a cub scout pack meeting. They had so much fun. One the way home from the meeting they kept on telling me that they couldn't wait until they were cubs themselves. One of the den leaders had decorated the tables with these giant balloon people. It was so great. I had never seen that before. The boys insisted on taking one home, so we did. And they even named him... Harry Potter. Frankly, I do not see the resemblance but oh well!

Our New Car!

Last week, we started looking at new cars since our cars have been working on and off for the past year. After much time online, and at car lots looking at our different options, we realized that the Jeep Patriot, and the Jeep Liberty would be our best option. On Monday, we made up our mind and put down a down payment on a gorgeous 2008 Jeep Liberty. It is soooo nice. But let's be honest, it is not fair to compare our beloved 1997 Chevy Lumina, to a 2008 vehicle. The Lumina has served us well, but it's time had run out.
That night, we decided not to take the Jeep home so it could go though final cleanings and tune-ups. Well... believe it or not the Lumina overheated on the freeway as we were heading home. The next day, on my way to work, it overheated 6 more times, and an other 5 on my way to my parents house. What a nightmare! I picked up the Jeep an hour later. The timing was trully perfect. I LOVE THE JEEP! I don't think I could ever go back to driving our little beater car.

Here is the interior of the Jeep. I'm not too crazy about the color, but I love all of the options. We have a CD player! Yeah! Our first one! We even have a plug for our IPOD's. And the dashboard has a compass, and it also calculates the temperature.

Family Home Evening in the Spring!

One of our favorite things to do during the spring and summer is to spend our Sunday afternoons picnicking and playing in parks or in the canyons. Last Sunday was so beautiful that we thought it would be the perfect time to start that tradition again. We went to one of our favorite parks, Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove. The park looks like a giant castle with mazes, swings, slides, and lots fun activities for kids.

Julien on the monkey bars. That kid is a pro on those. He can skip one and even two holds! Amazing.

Follow the leader.

Play Dad Play

Sunday night, Jon and Julien played super heroes. It was so fun to watch them set up all their super heroes and villains. One by one they battled their heroes and villains to see which was the strongest.
Julien giving a thumbs up to Lilo and Ironman.

Our new Orange belt!

Last Friday, Julien earned his orange belt. He is so excited. He now meets with the blue and green belts, the more experienced kids. He also needs sparing gear, although all the stunts he will learn are not real sparing, so we are told (ffewww! what a relief). In the picture above is Julien sporting his new belt with his instructor Miki Lawrence.
